HOW YOUR MONEY HELPS
While many members of Australia's LGBTQ communities lead healthy, fulfilled and productive lives, a large proportion of LGBTQ people experience significant disparities when it comes to mental health and wellbeing when compared to the broader population such as higher levels of depression, anxiety and distress. In recent times, this has been exacerbated by the ongoing negative public discourse about our communities.
As NSW’s leading LGBTQ health organisation, ACON works hard to provide a range of programs and services that help address many of the mental health issues that are experienced by our communities. The counselling, support and crisis services we provide all help to improve the health and wellbeing of LGBTQ people and their families.
But much of this work is not financially supported by government and rely on donations.
With your support, you can help power our efforts to improve, bolster and strengthen the mental health and wellbeing of LGBTQ communities.
Funds raised through Celebrate With Pride will help pay for our care and support services
LGBTQ+ counselling
We provide counselling support to people in our communities needing assistance with distress and other mental health concerns. Your support will ensure help is available to those that need it.
Care and support
Demand for ACON counselling continues to rise. Your support will help others access specialised mental health support from counsellors that have experience working with LGBTQ communities.
Weekly meal service
We provide a weekly meal service for people living with HIV and LGBTQ people. Your support will allow us to continue providing healthy meals to vulnerable community members and reduce social isolation.
